Dear Tariq Islam,
At the very first outset let me tell you that I came to know of your website and the ongoing mudslinging in context with the department of ophthalmology only today and I feel it is my duty to clarify certain things in this regard.
1. I do not believe in or practice shadow writing.
2. I have the moral courage to face people/ consequences of my conduct.
3. I admit that I had complained against Dr. Ali & Dr. Farhat for what I believed and still believe was serious lapse on their part.
4. I as a senior member of the department warned both these former students and now junior colleagues of mine that they are not authorized to perform retina surgery because they do not have the requisite qualification or experience.
5. Any individual aware of the medico legal matters will tell you in no uncertain terms that phacoemulsification and retina surgery is not a part of regular curriculum for MS/MD (ophthalmology) and therefore MS ophthalmology (only) does not entitle them to perform retina surgery. It requires additional super specialty training of two years at certain MCI recognized centers. (Aligarh is not one of them). The same, if you so desire, can be confirmed by filing an RTI with Medical council of India or Legal experts practicing law in the Supreme Court of India.
6. That for reasons well known them they started an unpleasant campaign against me.
7. I wish to inform both these doctors thru your website that I shall be the happiest person if they first acquire requisite qualification/ experience and continue to perform better surgery than me. That is the only way the medical science and humanity can progress. BUT please do not combine ignorance with arrogance and that the appreciation of good work must come from people other than your own selves.
8. They must be grateful to me for preventing them from doing what they are not authorized to do instead of indulging in character assassination at the behest of those who are not their well wishers.
9. If they still insist on their stand I shall be compelled to report the matter to Medical council of India and the responsibility for all such consequences will lie with them
If any one needs any further clarification, please get in touch with me and do not involve me in any shadow writing.
Yours sincerely
Prof. S. Nasir Askari, dated 15.05.1956

We are members of resident doctors association. It is highly condemnable that people like Dr.BC(ophtha. deptt) & Mr. NC Singhal(advocate)??(probably the same person) are using this platform to settle their personal scores and maligning our hospital and university on this forum without any proof.First of all they should not involve our members who are working hard day and night to serve the needy patients especially when there are no complaints by any of the patients in the concerned department. Therefore allegations like this just reflect professional jealousy and nothing else.Secondly,if at all they have any doubts regarding the patients treated and operated by Dr XYZ and Dr ABC,they can contact us and we can provide them enough proof which will clear ther doubts. Therefore we request Dr .BC to please refrain from such activities and do some good work instead of referring his patients to private practitioners for the reasons best known to him. Finally we congratulate again Dr Ali Reza and Dr Farahat abrar who are doing excellent work in their speciality and we assure them our full support in making this institution one of the finest in this country. |
If indeed that is the case, it is sad. |

we had a medico legal seminar at hinduja hosp this sunday... and were surprised to find so many laws... there were laws we couldnt even think of....
like an ophthalmologist cannot do phaco unless he has a certificate from an MCI recongnised teaching insitute which are 31 in india.... similarly with retina specialists. .. no retina work unless u have mci recongnised retina fellowship and only 7 institutes in india have dnb retina which is mci recongnised.
and ya if someone thinks tht such rules cannot or do not exist then i wuld feel sorry for them cos we around 150 ophthals felt the same whn we came to knw of such rules....
also many other rules but this was the most interestin n most debated....
and because it is a law - no arguments... .
Did Dr. Rizvi and Dr. Farahat have this qualification before operating upon retina cases? Can all such loose talks mislead the MCI or judiciary.
regards
dr rahul chaudhary |
