1 Referring to the note written by Dr Askari regarding formal training to do Retinal surgery etc---there is no such provision in the MCI as we have checked----MS is the highest degree and like other subjects there is no MCH or DM etc. Further more ---Dr Askari too has no \"Formal\" training in \'Retinal Surgery\" to the best of our knowledge!!!!!He, just like DR Shukla has worked under a senior doctor-----who too had no \'Formal\' training...................... Just a matter of Professional Jealousy------ JDO and Residents of JNMC (Some members) We are publishing this message for general interest

2 Dear Friends AMU Administration is not in the mood of accepting that his candidates got defeated because of the following issues: 1.M Mobin, Senior most provost, EC member 2.Arbitrary conversion of Readers (MPS) to Readers (CAS) 3.Frequent absence of VC from Aligarh although teachers are neither allowed EOL nor vacation 4.EC vs VC 5.Convening of regular GSCs instead of convening them regularly. If these are not the issues, then AMU administration must disclose the issues so that corrective measures could be taken by the teacher’s representatives and may be discussed under Any Other Item on 22nd May GBM of AMUTA. We hope that MOODY AMU administration would take all of us into confidence and share its problems!

3 With due respect, we request Prof.SN Askari to please go through MD/MS curriculum which is freely available in the form of a book provided by MCI.For other interested members I am pasting some unedited lines from the same manual \"Medical & Surgical Management\" (g) To demonstrate the knowledge of the pharmacological (including toxic) aspects of drugs used in ophthalmic practice and drug commonly used in general diseases affecting the eyes. (h) To exhibit competence in medical management of ophthalmic cases. (i) To competently handle and execute safely all routine surgical procedures on lens, glaucoma, lid, sac, adnexa, retina and muscle anomalies. (j) To competently handle all ophthalmic medical and surgical emergencies. (k) To be familiar with micro-surgery and special surgical techniques Also further it is written in the manual \"To examine, diagnose and demonstrate under standing of management of (medical and surgical) complicated problems in the field of (a) lens, (b) Uvea, (c) Cornea including of transplant and implant (d) Retina including retinal detachment (e) Squint (f) Ophthalmoplasty and and tumours of Eye (g) Glaucoma (h) Plastic Surgery of Eye and (i) Genetic Problems in Ophthalmology. Few other lines which will make things more clear are \"Operations\" The resident is provided with an opportunity to perform operations both extra-ocular & Intraocular with the assistance of the Senior Residents and/or under the direct supervision of a faculty member. He is provided with an opportunity to learn special and complicated operations by assisting the Senior Resident or the Senior Surgeon in operations of cases of the speciality and be responsible for the post-operative care of these cases besides their earlier work up & pre-operative preparations.\" I think now things are pretty clear regarding what includes in curriculum for MS/MD Ophthalmology. No other additional qualification is required to do phacoemulsification and retina surgery or any other complicated surgery of the eye, so it is pretty clear that even a junior resident can perform these surgeries if assisted by Senior Resident like Dr ABC,or Lecturer Dr XYZ. Therefore in the line of above facts it is pretty clear to everyone what the matter really is.We request Prof.SN Askari to end this matter at this point and work as a team with his junior colleagues because ultimately it is the patient who is benefited no matter who treats him. 4 TARIQ BHAI DO SHER LIKH RAHA HOON “MAREEZ BANAAM DIL KE DAAKTAR” AGAR MUNAASIB SAMJHEN TO MESSAGE BOARD PAR DAAL DEN. SHUKR GUZAR HOONGA. 5 Dear Tariq Islam, At the very first outset let me tell you that I came to know of your website and the ongoing mudslinging in context with the department of ophthalmology only today and I feel it is my duty to clarify certain things in this regard. 1. I do not believe in or practice shadow writing. 2. I have the moral courage to face people/ consequences of my conduct. 3. I admit that I had complained against Dr. Ali & Dr. Farhat for what I believed and still believe was serious lapse on their part. 4. I as a senior member of the department warned both these former students and now junior colleagues of mine that they are not authorized to perform retina surgery because they do not have the requisite qualification or experience. 5. Any individual aware of the medico legal matters will tell you in no uncertain terms that phacoemulsification and retina surgery is not a part of regular curriculum for MS/MD (ophthalmology) and therefore MS ophthalmology (only) does not entitle them to perform retina surgery. It requires additional super specialty training of two years at certain MCI recognized centers. (Aligarh is not one of them). The same, if you so desire, can be confirmed by filing an RTI with Medical council of India or Legal experts practicing law in the Supreme Court of India. 6. That for reasons well known them they started an unpleasant campaign against me. 7. I wish to inform both these doctors thru your website that I shall be the happiest person if they first acquire requisite qualification/ experience and continue to perform better surgery than me. That is the only way the medical science and humanity can progress. BUT please do not combine ignorance with arrogance and that the appreciation of good work must come from people other than your own selves. 8. They must be grateful to me for preventing them from doing what they are not authorized to do instead of indulging in character assassination at the behest of those who are not their well wishers. 9. If they still insist on their stand I shall be compelled to report the matter to Medical council of India and the responsibility for all such consequences will lie with them If any one needs any further clarification, please get in touch with me and do not involve me in any shadow writing. Yours sincerely Prof. S. Nasir Askari, dated 15.05.2009 First of all let us make it very clear that Dr Tariq Islam Sb rarely moderates the messages. Several of our volunteers have been assigned this responsibility following principles of division of labor. We are publishing this message in public interest and hope that the issue would be amicably resolved. Our Alma mater is already passing through a rough phase and we hope that our premier Faculty of Medicine must continue to focus on achieving excellence.
